I started surfing as a skinny, clumsy kid in Del Mar. Played lots of sports, but felt most grounded in the water and hangin on the beach. Three years of high school in Palo Alto almost killed my young passion for surfing, but UCSC reignited it and a mid 90s move to OB kept it satiated. Coming from a guy who measures head high surf at about his chest, Mavericks would next present the ultimate challenge. Ten years later I feel blessed to have joined a tight community of dedicated surfers that yearn for cold water monsters.

At Mavs I ride classic big wave guns by Al Merrick and been trying some newer 4-fin designs by Stretch. Xcel wetsuits and accessories are graciously provided by Aqua keeping my garage fully stocked with gear. Hoping to take my 8th trip to Indo this summer, a strike to mainland Mex and just booked a Nov-08 trip to the Galapagos.

As for work a graduate degree in geology has kept me in the environmental industry since graduation day. I'm now in the Presidio of San Francisco working in the environmental remediation department where we are managing the remainder of the US Army's cleanup. I was recently asked to join the "Save the Waves" Board of Directors, a great non profit focusing on protecting our coastal resources around the globe. I eagerly hope to give back and protect our mother ocean
