He just brought in some new picks of Dom (Pelican) Spinardi that have been updated to Dom's Team page. Now if I can only get that guy to finally write his bio.
To get you amped for the upcoming premier of Curt Myers' Aquaholics at the Red Vic here is a trailer of Dom from the movie.
AQUAHOLICS at the Red Vic Movie House, Playing Sept 5-8
Our good buddy Curt Myers and the talented team at Powerlines Productions (Eric Nelson & Chris Wilson) has finally finished a project we’ve been waiting to see for a long time-
Aquaholics is a homegrown documentary about surfing in the Bay Area, 7 years in the making, featuring local surfing spots: Ocean Beach, Mavericks, Santa Cruz and a few secret spots in between. Aquaholics reminds surfers why they are surfers…in search of the perfect wave and a lifestyle they hold sacred. Featuring local SF surfers Ragnar Johnson and Peter Campbell as well as Pat ‘Ninja’ Bollinger & Dominic ‘Pelican’ Spinardi. This is a time-travel collection of scenes from the last 14 years as local HMB legend Ion Banner raises & teaches his son Skylar about the lifestyle of the ‘Soul’ surfer. Also featuring current legendary surfers Shawn Rhodes, Matt Ambrose and Brent ‘Oil’ Hudson. Also included is a 15+ minute reel of Mavericks that will have you on the edge of your seat wondering if these guys are going to make the turn of their session or end up with the beatings of their lives. Opens w/a Surf Short. (60m)
Fri & Mon: 7:15, 9:15;
Sat & Sun: 2:00, 4:00, 7:15, 9:15
So Saturday night Brian (of Wavefest) and I were invited to venture down to San Diego for Tiki Oasis 8- Voodoo Vacation on Zombie Island. What is Tiki Oasis you ask- I'm still not sure. I was never good with words- so here are some pics.
I saw a lot of drunk dudes wearing fezzes while hot burlesque girls shook their hips, but to really help us understand Tiki Oasis here are the facts- Fact #1 Tiki Oasis is created and orchestrated by the Bay Area's own Baby Doe of the Go Go dance troupe The Devil-Ettes, and Otto of Tiki News. Fact #2 Tiki Oasis is the longest running Tiki event/party ever! Fact #3 You will drink lots and lots of Mai Tais!
Hot Tana the Tattooed Lady with -um- I'm not sure.
So Otto had invited Brian and I down to check out the scene, because he would like us to show surfing films at next year's Oasis. So Brian (Mad Max) drove us straight there from SF after work & got us there at 4 in the morning- and it was on, drinking while perving- I mean enjoying vintage style Burlesque dancing and rocking out to the hot rod sounds of The Mission Creeps, The Creepy Creeps, and The Ghastly Ones.
A pic of the main Stage.
Tikis Oasis 8's theme was Safari to Zombie Island- so here are some explorers...
...And here are some Hipsters from the grave.
Nice couple- Fancy feathers.
Da Hui was there, handing out beatings.
Brian drinking with Tiki.
Quite the party! I think we'll be seeing you next year- Thanks Otto and Baby Doe.

I was a little unsure if one of our team riders Shea Hodges was still on the team. Shea kind of disappeared for a little while, and we have not heard anything from her. Well Shea is back, the other day she stopped by the shop and filled us in on what she has been up too. Shea has been doing good work with Keep Abreast among other things-Visit her updated team page (click here)- to find out where Shea-Buddy has been hiding.
Is it true?
They have found the body of a dead male Bigfoot and caught an “Actual Chupacabra” on video all in one amazing week! Searchingforbigfoot.com has announced they will hold a press conference in near by Palo Alto on August 15th to present their DNA evidence and field questions about the alleged Bigfoot body they discovered in the woods of Georgia, and they also have a cool E-store with Bigfoot mugs! Here are some of the vital statistics on the "Bigfoot" body: from Searchingforbigfoot.com- “*The creature is seven feet seven inches tall. *It weighs over five hundred pounds. *The creature looks like it is part human and part ape-like. *It is male. *It has reddish hair and blackish-grey eyes. *It has two arms and two legs, and five fingers on each hand and five toes on each foot. *Its footprint is sixteen and three-quarters inches long and five and three-quarters inches wide at *The creatures walk upright. (Several of them were sighted on the same day that the body was found.)”
Meanwhile the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization (http://www.bfro.net) says that this is just another Hoax, with a bad Bigfoot costume placed in a broken freezer.
Then I found this article on Scientific America http://www.sciam.com/blog/60-second-science/post.cfm?id=chupacabra-strikes-texas-town-2008-08-13
Apparently a Texas Ranger has caught a Chupacabra on Video!
Why is this important news to us- well duh, we are half -way done with a Bigfoot movie. In this one River Rock and Skydar come across the majestic legend after eating magic mushrooms while searching for the fabled surf off California’s Lost Coast.
We need to have our facts correct and have the interactions between RiverRock , Skydar, and Bigfoot as realistic as possible. As for the Chupacabra footage, well you’ve seen Surfacabra- we apparently have some re-editing to do. Until we can figure out more facts- I have to go see the new X-Files movie.
We just got some images back from Colors of Eden, our fourth annual Fashion show and fundraiser for Edgewood Center for Children and Families.
First of all a big thank you to all whom helped put together this event, and to all that made contributions to Edgewood. We could not do it without you- we'd lack the energy to put together such an event with out your support. This year, once again we had a great time, and raised some money for Edgewood. Favorites included a live set by SF’s The Botticellis (don’t miss their double vinyl release party at Café du Nord this Sun the 10th), Toph One, Pony P, and of course it was all kicked off by the fashion show. Big mahalos to the crew at 111 Minna, Lisa for working so hard on the show, and all the models that donated their time. Also to Nikita, Element, Matix, Electric, and SFBG. View images of the show here- http://www.aquasurfshop.com/media.html and click on the Colors of Eden Fashion Show gallery. Enjoy- until next year! All photos are by shootretouchdesign.com
